In February, we partnered up with the mental health charity, Mind, supporting them in their 2015 ‪#‎mind3000 challenge.

TV presenters Anna Williamson and Matt Johnson were joined by team mates – including actress Denise Welch – at our Trump Street centre on Tuesday for a fitness kick-start in the chamber at 2700m.

The Challenge involves two teams, one tackling trekking the four highest mountains (over 1,000m) in the Lake District over 24 hours including Scafell Pike, with repeated ascents and descents on each mountain.

The other team will attempt the 15 highest mountains (over 1,000m) in Wales over 24 hours including Snowdon, with long ascents and descents on each mountain.

The treks will be a test of fitness, endurance and team spirit, requiring at least 6 weeks of hard training. The terrain is extremely varied involving some steep ascents and descents, long walking distances (16-22 hours) and little sleep.

Read more about the #mind3000 and how to support, and we’ll be tweeting about their progress from our Twitter, @AltitudeCentre.
