Huge applause for Team GB who earned a phenomenal 29 gold medals, 17 Silver medals and 19 bronze medals finishing a fantastic 3rd in the world rankings, the best results recorded by Team GB at any Olympics since 1908.

An even bigger round of applause to the team at The Altitude Centre who directly helped their clients achieve 8 Golds, 2 Silvers, and 1 Bronze, putting us 10th in the overall medal list. Indirectly The Altitude Centre also supported the National Teams of GB, USA and Australia by supplying kit to these federations during this time.

Athletes we have permission to mention are the phenomenal Brownlee Brothers. Alistair bought his sleep system back in 2010, he says “I have used The Altitude Centre and their equipment. Great for rehab and training, useful kit for top athletes”.

Jonathan followed his brother and trained with our kit in the run up to the Games.

Altitude Training has been part of Olympic preparation since The Games held in Mexico in 1968. These Olympics, held at an altitude of 2,240m were dominated by altitude-based athletes in the middle and long distance events. Since this time Altitude Training has been part of Athletes preparation. More recently, with advances in technology, we have been able to bring the mountain to the athlete with simulated altitude training. Latest research conducted by our performance scientist Harvey Galvin and London South Bank University shows the benefit for sprinting and power events. No longer is simulated altitude training the reserve of distance runners as the recent medal results show.
